When I stood at the edge of one of the outdoor pools in Kalahari Resort, I could see the jelly bean-shaped pool and could hear kids splashing cheerfully in the water. In the water, there were floating basketballs. I was with my parents and my dad and I had swimsuits on. The salty smell of pool water filled the air. I was holding my soft bath towel that I had taken from the hotel. A wave of chocolatey excitement rushed over me because I had not been to a pool in a long time, due to COVID-19. When I was about to jump into the large pool, my mom stopped me. She told me that the water was too deep. I had a strong feeling that she would not let me go near the pool.
My mom and dad talked about letting me into the pool and I was getting bored, so I silently jumped into the pool without my parents knowing. I slowly stepped into the water and jumped once I made it halfway in. It turns out that they had heard me getting in. Instead of getting angry, they thought it was funny. My dad also came in the pool with me, but my mom stayed at the edge of the pool. Finally, she strolled to one of the cots that surrounded the outdoor pool.
While my mom rested on the cot, my dad and I played water basketball. He kept on shooting the ball in the hoop, but I only made it a few times. Once in a while, I switched balls with him to see if there was any difference. His ball was lighter, so I played with the best of the two for a few minutes. When we finished playing, my dad and I dried off while my mom finished packing up. We left the pool and ambled back to the hotel to fill our bellies with food.
That was one of the best times I had with my parents. I jumped around with excitement and splashed my hands in the water. Even though we were leaving, I still felt thrilled because COVID perverted me from leaving the house. From this experience, I learned that even if good times end, there is still good in every day.
