The warm sun shone against the black cat’s fur, the pitter-patter of her claws the only sound for miles. She had no trouble in this world, being a lone feline. The bright colors of fall swirled around her, reminding her of a time in autumn that changed her world.
The black cat and her brothers were walking through the forest on a cool, breezy fall day, their claws scratched the forest floor. She meowed to them, saying, “Let’s build a leaf pile!” Whether that was a good idea or not was a moot point. They stopped at a leafy tree and started climbing it. She gathered the leaves while her brothers made the pile. Once they were done, the black cat jumped out of the tree and landed into the pile with a crunch! Suddenly, she heard the sound of her brother calling out for help, but in fear of getting caught, she remained silent and stayed where she was. After a while, she came out of her hiding spot and tried to find her brothers, but all that work turned out to be futile. She never saw them again.
Back in the present, the black cat shook off her thoughts and said to herself, “That was in the past. This is the present. Look ahead for the future, not back. Leave that all behind and start a new beginning.”
